Premium soaps, perfumes, candles, and lotions have near-identical, far cheaper alternatives — but finding the right dupe means hours of forum digging.
Dupe Hunter identifies a product from its barcode or a photo and surfaces cheaper matches with a similarity score and the savings.
02 · The build
A Next.js app that reads UPC barcodes in-browser with @zxing/browser and runs photo recognition through OpenRouter (Google Gemini 2.0 Flash), mapping what it sees onto a curated product-and-dupe database.
Each match shows a similarity score, average price, and savings; the dupe data is structured so new products and alternatives can be added without touching the UI.
